Our resort’s architecture is a tribute to the ancient “Chena” farmers of Sri Lanka. Historically, these farmers built elevated huts and treehouses to protect their crops from wandering elephants at night.
We have reimagined this tradition into three-story boutique villas soaring 43 feet into the jungle canopy. Each villa blends “treehouse charm” with modern elegance, featuring:
- Private Plunge Pools: Located on the ground floor for a refreshing dip under the stars.
- Middle Floor: Luxury living spaces with jungle views.
- Top Floor: Attic-style lofts that bring you closer to the stars.
While the leopards and sloth bears of Wilpattu are the main draw, we offer a full range of activities to explore the surrounding landscape:
- Open Trails & Free Bicycles: Discover the beauty of our grounds and the surrounding birding pathways at your own pace. We provide complimentary bicycles for all guests to explore our open trail network independently.
- Lake Rides in 2-Seater Canoes: Take to the water in our private 2-seater boats. It is the most peaceful way to watch the sunset and observe lakeside birdlife.
- Night Safaris (After 6:00 PM): When the National Park gates close, the adventure continues. We offer guided night safaris in the surrounding areas to witness the forest’s nocturnal magic.
At Wilpattu Safari Resort, we believe the best way to understand our culture is through its flavors. We specialize in Authentic Sri Lankan Lunch Specials, prepared using traditional methods and fresh, local ingredients.
